Zion, Bryce & Grand Canyon (Elderhostel)

Sept. 25-30, 2006

Few places are as photogenic as Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon National Parks. This photographer's paradise creates unforgettable encounters with dramatic scenery and amazing opportunities to improve photography skills. Capture sunrise and sunset from remarkable places in each park and develop skills with varied light conditions. Learn through visual-presentations, in class discussions, pointers during daily photo shoots, critiques, gallery visits and talks with pros; conclude with a finale photo celebration. Presentations on area history and geology enhance understanding of what shapes the magnificent landscapes you capture on film. Perfect your photography skills during daily field study/photo shoots among landscapes of red rock cliffs, towering buttes, hoo doos, eroded rock and vast vistas. Overnight stays in Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon allows us to venture out early and late for special photo opportunities of magnificent views and delicate details! Program in association with Dixie State College.

Photographers of all skill levels are welcome; those with digital cameras will receive digital-specific instruction and may show images in daily photo reviews. Film photographers will participate in a closing social photo celebration. Easy to moderate walks on groomed trails in the Parks. We may venture off the beaten path onto uneven terrain for unique photo opportunities. 2,500 to 9,000' elevation.
